how we help
In all the tech events, the oft-repeated phrase is ‘data is the new oil’. And it is true. And it is going to stay this way for a long time to come. The sooner you start adopting, the better it is going to serve you. Whereas, the downsides of not adopting might present an existential threat to your company. Don’t get disrupted. And don’t blame it on millennials!
Let’s break down the Data Science and Analytics for you. There are 3 major parts of this puzzle.
First, organizations need to establish the right infrastructure to start tapping into it. This can mean different things to different companies. Some might be best served by going all-in, Enterprise Data Lakes and what not! Others might be better served by just milking their existing EDWs to the fullest. Some might be the best candidates to move over to NoSQL database, while others might be best served by SQL purists.
Whatever it is, you’re going to need to establish optimum combination of Data Layer (storage), Integrations and Ingestion Layer (plumbing), Processing Layer (crunching), and Analytics & BI Layer (Analysis). The hidden fifth layer would be Data Governance and Stewardship that encompass all these 4 layers.
There are bunch of tools and technologies available for each one of these layers. And it might get overwhelming, but with a little help and support successful companies ought to establish a proper tech stack and a governance program best suited for them.
If you’ve accomplished an optimum tech stack and deployed the governance program, chances are you’re already exhausted by now. Because by now, you would have incurred significant expenditure and countless day-to-day issues for several months. And you’ve nothing to show for it yet, except some projections.
It is critical to fight that fatigue. Because without some quick wins, you run the risk of internal sarcasm. Studies show that first six months are the most important part in achieving a long-term evolution towards Data Science. So, take advantage of what you achieved in step 1. Quickly. Identify some data driven use cases that would help you achieve those quick wins. Setup a team, and bang – you’re up and running. Then comes the bigger use cases that would require more elaborate planning and efforts.
But now you have the momentum on your side. Now you can also take it up a notch and use AI/ML/RPA to create futuristic solutions.
Lastly, and most importantly, you’d need a cultural change. In fact, this should have been the step 1. Because without a data driven mindset, companies won’t be able to accomplish the above 2 steps. How well you achieve this cultural change would be the differentiator between successful and unsuccessful implementations. If you don’t get this right, all the investments up to this point might become wasteful, and that’d be a significant setback any which way.
But we can tell from experience, this takes time and significant internal alignment. That’s where clarity of thought and previous implementation experience kicks in. Management should be able to clearly define the scope and objectives and bring the team onboard. Every team, that is. Work with them on daily basis, continuously iron out the creases and eventually transform into an insights-driven company.
Goes without saying, having some seasoned pros onboard would be like gold dust. No wonder there’s a talent war going on in the Data Science space.
Our consultants have partnered prestigious companies towards all of the above. Our data scientists and engineers have scores of successful implementations behind them. We do it for a living and we will be happy to help you develop the Data Science roadmap, establish Data Governance and Stewardship program, setup the right Tech Stack, identify and achieve those quick win use cases, those bigger use cases and those futuristic solutions. If you’re already on your way, we’d be happy to provide reinforcements, because it takes a village sometimes! And not doing it is not an option.
